Here at Breads and Sweets I love to share all my favorite recipes and I must say quick breads are a big part of that. I love how they are perfect anytime, from breakfast to snack to dessert.

If you have never been successful with making these types of breads, don’t worry, with these helpful hints you will be making the tastiest and moistest breads you have ever eaten.

best quick breads.

To start and maybe the most important, don’t over mix batter. Over mixing causes quick breads to be dense, tough and bake unevenly. Stir your wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined and you can’t see the flour. Which mean about 15-16 stirs. I find a rubber spatula to be more gentle when combining!

Make sure your ingredients are room temperature. This allows your ingredients to fully incorporate into the batter. Cold ingredients should be brought to room temperature and your melted butter cooled.

If your bread starts to brown too quickly just tent the bread with a piece of foil and continue baking.

I love that quick breads are so fast and easy to make and can be enjoyed basically anytime of the day, from breakfast to snack to even dessert! I hope you enjoy these amazing breads just as much as we do.

No kneading or rising time, quick breads are perfect when you looking for something a little different from muffins or even coffee cake.

What Method is Used to Prepare Quick Breads?

Quick breads are usually prepared using three different methods. The method used determines what kind of texture and crumb the bread will have after baking.

  • Blending – The dry ingredients are combined in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another and then the dry are mixed in the wet to create the batter.
  • Creaming – The fat (usually butter or oil) and sugar are beaten together to create an airy and light mixture. The eggs are then added and finally the dry ingredients are folded in to create the batter. This method is usually used to make muffins as well.
  • Biscuit Method – The dry ingredients are sifted together, and then the fat get added to the mix to create a coarse mixture. The dry mix gets added to the wet mix and folded in to create a dense batter which will create a denser, but still flaky consistency.

    1. Hi Rhonda, You could use maraschino cherries, but you should drain them before adding them and cut back on the sugar since they might be sweeter. Hope that helps 🙂
