Easy Air Fryer Pizza

Air Fryer Pizza made from scratch with a delicious chewy pizza crust and lots of melted cheese and toppings. This air fried pizza can be made two ways – classic pepperoni or sausage and mushroom. Whichever you choose, you will love how easy it is to make pizza in the air fryer.

Can You Cook A Pizza In An Air Fryer?

Yes, and this air fryer pizza recipe is so easy. Oh, and we’re skipping the frozen pizza and making it homemade- it’s so much better! I especially like it during the summer when I want pizza, but don’t want to turn on the oven.

You can use my homemade pizza dough that’s made from scratch, but you can also use premade dough if you’re short on time.

I’m sharing pizza two ways, but really any toppings you like will work for air fryer pizza.

You can use a pizza pan made for your air fryer to cook the pizza or just use foil – I’ve done it both ways and both work great.

Ingredients

Pizza sauce: I like to make homemade sauce (the ingredients are in the recipe card) but you can use any kind of pizza sauce you like.

Cheese: Firm (low-moisture) mozzarella cheese works best for this recipe.

Pizza toppings: Any toppings you like will work. For this recipe, I share how to make air fryer pepperoni pizza or mushroom sausage pizza – the details are in the recipe card at the end of the post.

How To Air Fry Pizza

You can use a pizza pan or line the air fryer basket with foil. Be sure to oil them or coat them with cooking spray.

Fit the rolled-out pizza dough evenly into the pan or the foil. Use a fork to prick the dough a few times and then lightly coat the dough with olive oil.

Before you add toppings, pre-cook the dough for three minutes at 375°F.

Sprinkle the cheese over the top and add the toppings and cook it at 400°F for three to four minutes or until the cheese is melted. Top the hot pizza with fresh basil for garnish.

How To Reheat Leftover Pizza

If you have leftover pizza, reheating it in the air fryer is easy. Heat it for a few minutes at 350°F and then check on it. If it’s not warmed through, add a few more minutes.

Recipe Tips For Air Fryer Pizza

There’s nothing better than homemade pizza, but to save time you can use storebought refrigerated dough and prepared pizza sauce.

The size of your pizza will depend on the size of your air fryer basket. You may need to divide the dough in two and make two separate ones.

The cooking time will also vary depending on how thick your crust is.

Be sure to precook ingredients like sausage, ground meat, bacon, or other raw meat before you add them to the pizza.

Sometimes we sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes over the top of the slices. You can also add some fresh herbs like basil and parsley for garnish.

Make this air fryer pizza for your next pizza night and I know you’ll love it. It’s such an easy way to make it and just as delicious as one made in the oven. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 pizza dough rounds

    TOMATO PEPPERONI PIZZA

      FOR THE SAUCE

      • ½ cup tomato puree (passata)
      • ½-1 teaspoon oregano
      • ½ teaspoon basil
      • ¼ teaspoon salt

      EXTRAS

      • 8-10 slices pepperoni
      • ½ cup shredded firm mozzarella
      • 4-5 fresh basil leaves to top the baked pizza (optional)

      SAUSAGE MUSHROOM PIZZA

      • 1 tablespoon olive oil
      • 1 clove garlic minced
      • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
      • 2 Italian sausages (casing removed and broken into pieces)
      • ½ teaspoon oregano
      • ½ teaspoon parsley (or 2 teaspoons fresh finely chopped)
      • ¼ teaspoon salt (more or less depending on how salty the sausage is)
      • ¼ cup water

      EXTRAS

      • ¼ cup shredded firm mozzarella
      • ½ cup fresh arugula chopped (optional)

      Instructions

      • I used both a pizza pan made for the air fryer and foil that I placed on the bottom of the air fryer.
      • Lightly spray the pan or foil with olive oil. Fit the unrolled pizza dough evenly in the pan or on the foil. Prick the dough well with the tongs of a fork. Spray the dough lightly with olive oil.

      FOR THE SAUCE

      • While the dough is baking, in a small bowl combine the tomato puree/passata, oregano, basil and salt.

      FOR THE SAUSAGE MUSHROOM PIZZA

      • In a medium/large pan add the oil, garlic, mushrooms, sausage, oregano, parsley, salt and water. Cover and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes, remove the lid and keep cooking on medium heat until water has evaporated and the mushroom and sausage are cooked.
      • Bake the dough for 3 minutes at 375F / 195C, on the pre cooked dough spread the sauce or mushroom sausage mixture and bake again for 5 minutes at 400F/200C. Top the pizza with the shredded cheese and bake again 400F/200C for 3-4 minutes or until cheese has melted. Carefully remove the pizza and serve immediately. Enjoy!
