Simple Chocolate Water Cake

Chocolate Water Cake is a simple cake recipe made with baking staples and water instead of milk. It's a quick and easy dessert when you're craving chocolate!

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 cups Cake flour
  • 6 ¼ tablespoons cocoa
  • teaspoons Baking powder
  • ¾ cups +1 tablespoon Sugar
  • ¾ cups Water (room temperature)
  • tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat the oven to 350F (180C) and grease and flour an 8 inch cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl sift together the flour, cocoa and baking powder.
  • In another medium bowl add the egg, yolk, sugar, water, oil, salt and vanilla and beat everything together for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the flour mix to the wet ingredients and beat until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake approximately 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool, then dust with some powder sugar. Enjoy!

Notes

This Water Cake can be served plain or dusted with powdered sugar. You could also frost it with chocolate frosting or cream cheese frosting or top i with whipped cream and fresh fruit.
This cake will keep for a few days covered and stored at room temperature. Do not store it in the fridge, it will only dry out, but you can store it in the freezer and it will last for several months. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap.
When you're ready to serve it, let it thaw at room temperature before slicing it.
