Sourdough Rustic Buns

Water Active Dry Yeast Milk Sourdough Starter Olive Oil Salt All purpose Flour

Step 1

In a bowl add water, sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes to proof then mix together. Add milk and sourdough starter and combine.

Add flour, olive oil and salt then combine with the dough hook to form a smooth dough.

Step 3

Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface, form a ball, then place in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover the bowl and let it rise for about 2 hours or until doubled.

Step 4

Remove dough from bowl, place on a lightly floured flat surface and pat into a rectangle.

Step 5

Divide dough into buns then place them on a baking sheet. Cover with a tea towel and let rise for 45-60 minutes.

Step 6

Bake for 10 minutes at 425 F, then lower the heat to 375 F and continue to bake for 15-20 minutes or until gold brown. Move to a wire rack to cool.
