Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar and baking soda to remove any lumps.

In another medium bowl mix together the buttermilk and egg.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, pour in the buttermilk mixture and mix until the dough comes almost together.

Transfer the dough onto a floured flat surface and flatten it to 1 inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut the dough into rounds.

Place the bread scones on a baking sheet. Chill them in the fridge for about 30 minutes before baking.

Preheat the oven to 450F. Bake the scones for 20 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Serve warm.
