Step 1

In a bowl combine sugar and ¼ cup of water, sprinkle active dry yeast on top and let sit for 10 minutes. Stir to combine.

In a medium bowl mix together the remaining water and sourdough starter.

In a bowl add the flour, make a well in the middle and add the yeast mix and sourdough starter mix. Start to mix it together with a fork then add the salt and continue to mix until well combined.

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours.

Fold the dough to form a ball. Place the dough in a parchment paper lined dutch oven or high cake pan. Cover the pan and let rise for 2-3 hours.

Preheat the oven to 420 degrees F and bake for 25-30 minutes. Move immediately to a wire rack to cool completely.
