Unsalted Butter Granulated Sugar Eggs Vanilla Extract Cocoa Powder  Pastry Flour Milk Baking Powder Baking Soda  Salt

Step 1

In a bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs beating well between each addition then beat in the vanilla.

In a medium bowl sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and baking soda until no lumps remain.

Step 3

Add the flour mix alternately with the milk to the wet mix and beat until just combined. Transfer the cake batter to the cake pan.

Step 4

Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes. Let the cake cool in the pan then transfer to a wire rack. Frost with a glaze or buttercream icing if desired.
